The book consists of nine chapters that are preceded by an introduction by Juan José Imbroda Ortíz, President of the autonomous city of Melilla and the prologue was written by Ana Palacio, former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Chapters analyse global issues of politics and security in the Mediterranean region and specific aspects for stability and development economic of the region such as energy, migration, water, inversionesempresariales and economic development, the role of social networks in 2011 revolts and, finally, the policy of the Obama administration in the area in recent years.
