The book includes conferences pronounced by officials, academics and experts in the European Union and the Mediterranean on the occasion of the upper course of development, trade and Euromediterranean policy held in Melilla from October 4 to December 20, 2007, under the Organization of the Fundación Francisco de Vitoria of Madrid and Fhimades. ‘ The European Union and the Mediterranean…’ boasts two blocks: on the one hand, those relating to the European Union, developments in its process of integration, internal reform and external policies with the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean; and, secondly, the Mediterranean as a geographic area of interest. Special prominence will be the European neighbourhood policy and the changes to be expected after creating the Union for the Mediterranean.
