The present work aims to analyze – a historical perspective – European migration policy, taking into account primarily the economic and social changes and its impact on legal rules and strategies adopted. In this context, intra-EU migration policies, its origins, evolution and current prospects, as well as also in reference to non-EU migrants policies are studied. In the European Union (in later EU) the immigration issue has been addressed by taking into account several aspects: EU foreign policy, the economic variable and the policy of development cooperation with third States, in such a way that the article sought to delve into these variables.
