In recent months the Mediterranean has once again acquired importance on the agendas of the European Union. Through the initiative of President Sarkozy to re-found the Barcelona process and raise new bases for regional cooperation, it is looking for, beyond the particular interest of the French President, overcoming the failure of this European policy. This project has resulted in the creation of the Union for the Mediterranean, which was born in the Paris Summit of 13 and 14 July this year.
